Jamaal Greear's blog ::Amber alerts and security bracelets may prevent another Jaycee Dugard
Through the years I have worked on hundreds of cases where the police just sit and wait for a body to show up. This is a major problem. The excuse is that "they ran away of their own accord". This is sickening and has happened to my own grand daughter who is disabled. First the police don't treat any missing person case seriously, losing valuable time and evidence then they say. "Oh they will turn up". This is why so many cases are going cold. The cases are not treated with respect and concern from the very beginning. I found my grand daughter myself; she was being held by a black guy for 6 days. Then I see these evil people planting seeds of doubt (for future juries) that Susan has run off to some resort somewhere. Please! Even if she was faced with this choice, I believe Susan would choose her boys. I had to go straight to the TV stations when my grand daughter disappeared from a group home and then I was told by them that unless the police gave them the picture they didn't want to put her picture up at all. WOW! What does this tell you? The police would not activate the Amber Alert! Are we protecting the facility from a lawsuit or being lazy? There is a case in Jamestown, NY; Corrie Anderson where they did not want to search in the first place and volunteers were told that the police discouraged searches. Corrie has now been missing for almost two years now. Corrie disappeared on 10/28/2008. We the volunteers have been searching for her. Yes there were minor police searches, but Corrie is still missing. Yolanda Bindics, Jamestown, NY was found by hunters three years later. People, taxpayers with families and loved ones, lay out there for months and years before being discovered by someone other than the police. What does that tell you? They are not looking for them. Just put them on a list and wait for them to turn up. It's disgusting. No respect for the dead or their town's people. You can best be assured however that if the person was a politician's relative or police officer's loved one, everything would be done the instant the case develops. I have learned and told families right from the beginning, get out there and search for your child. Muster the strength, it is your child. Keep looking everyday. I questioned people and traced my grand daughter's steps with the planets of the day and was right on her trail. DO NOT WAIT FOR POLICE, START SEARCHING IMMEDIATELY! There are many cases where searches were never conducted. Andy Puglisi case from Massachusetts in 1976 finally sent an officer over in the middle of the night and did not do official searches for days. You can see the difference a case is treated by who the person is. There is discrimination in race, status and position when a case begins. This was a boy from a poor family. His case was bungled from the beginning and the police still do not want to accept any outside help. Hello, you have a missing boy in your town and that will not go away!!!!!!!! Unless you do whatever it is to find your own loved one, the police are too busy. That is why I start telling people right away, hire a Private Investigator. I am glad that a search was conducted immediately for the 17 year old from California, the honor student. They found her and have her body, evidence and caught the guy so fast. Don't let your police fool you; they know exactly what is going on. They know the predators like I am saying. Yet they thought Amber Dubois was a runaway. Do not tell me there isn't partiality going on. We pay all our tax dollars for all these agencies that do nothing. They need to know we are not going to continue to let these agencies or anyone else sit there and suck our pocketbooks dry! Chris Willden of Bountiful asked Police back in December 2009 if they needed assistance in searching for Susan Powell but was told that the police were not organizing any search parties for Susan. Why was that? This is exactly what I am saying. The police want to make the collar, but do not want to go out of their way. How many times have I worked on cases for the police, telling them exactly what is going on, only to hear later down the road that they never even contacted me, trying to ruin my credibility. Bill Greenhalgh who owns an ATV service has also come forward to help search for Susan and has organized a group of friends. Thank you! I applaud all of you. Be careful of the unexploded military ammunition. What is that? Did any of you know those were out there, where our families live? I guess Josh Powell didn't run into any of those unexploded things either. Many times a family cannot search due to health conditions and age, so volunteers are needed. These families are hurting. What kind of neighbors would we be if we didn't help search for Susan. The police want to control the investigation in an effort to get evidence that cannot be refuted in court. Understandable, but unless you have the body usually you just have a circumstantial case. Josh Powell and his attorney love the waiting and not having to go to trial. Time will eradicate evidence. So many people are missing because the laws are so stupid and do not protect us. What a scam, I have an idea, let's form a government, charge taxes and we will all get a paycheck off the people's money. Who started that anyway? Wasn't that all supposed to be for all of us? Not just the aristocrats? OK searching can de dangerous and the killer may be watching the body. So do be careful. Do not go alone. If you find anything that looks like clothing, a body, evidence do not touch it with your hands. Call police who will gladly come out now. Groups are better. Have good communications, phones, walkie-talkies and cameras. I used to carry a weapon on searches to be safe. Document what you search. You have not done enough searches until you have found the person. I was told by the police about my grand daughter "oh she's not even in the area anymore, look in Buffalo!" Really, I thought I was the Astrologist and you were the police. What crystal ball was he using? Sad he was the Captain! I turned out to be the right one, she WAS IN the area!! A different Police Agency found her that time. My grand daughter was sitting in McDonald's for days without her medicine, clothing or food. McDonald's employees didn't even report her there either. I have searched alone many times for people because I know the police are not searching. Yes they are questioning and have a formal way of conducting an investigation, but they get caught up in that and miss the searching aspect. They try to develop leads to save money. On the Yolanda Bindics case I went out everyday, yes for free, as I knew she was in a North direction and this was on camera by WB49. This poor family went through hell because the family had no money. Her killer has still not been brought to justice even though the police have a really really good idea who did it. Police Departments do not want to spend the money on these cases. People are sick of this political crap. They want justice for their loved ones and they are entitled to that. Search safely; be aware of your surroundings. When entering property always ask permission. Be polite and respectable. I always contacted police and let them know I was in the area as well for my own safety. Many times I had film, radio and TV stations with me. As my picture depicts WB49, Sarah Bishop interviewing me and filming exactly what I was saying. That Northern location was exactly correct for Yolanda Bindics. I would have found her but got very sick with cancer and had to have chemo and radiation. I was not far from Yolanda's location in my search. Wear clothing for walking, long sleeves, as pricker bushes are rough on the arms. Carry a club for stray dogs or walking stick as I call it. We all need to get together and change the laws so that police search immediately, put out proper Amber Alerts, and take disappearances seriously and not prejudge that a person is a runaway. I just signed a petition for the Silver Act so they search for missing elderly and mentally challenged folks as well. My grand daughter is BiPolar, ill, not a runaway. An elderly man in Lancaster, NY walked away from a nursing home. Reports were that he was 90 miles away. Once again our police officers figured he was a runaway. 400 volunteers searched for him all weekend, organized by the police. I called the family on Monday and told them the three clues, C, L and U for the day, the number 3. I told them to get a relative to go to the nursing home and go to the corner of the nursing home that slopes down and walk down from there listening for noises like a playground that would distract him and that he fell down a ravine near Como Lake Park, (C and L clues) on Union Rd (U clue) and that I was sorry but he was deceased. The daughter begged me to come that day and search for him and I explained that I had to work, but to do what I had said. I told them he was within 3 miles. I asked the daughter can you walk three miles right now today? Her answer was, 'No'. Then I said your 85 year old father can't either. She sent her grand daughter out on the bike. Guess what; they found Walter by 5:00pm the day I called. At Como Lake Park ( C and L clues), off Union Rd (U clue) in a ravine and deceased exactly like I said. Walter Schmidt, God rest his soul. He wasn't 90 miles away!!!! Good Luck on the search for Susan. Find Susan. |
