Jamaal Greear's blog ::President Obama Will Soon Have the Ability to Send A Text Message to Any Cellphone in the US–PLAN

You've               heard               about               them               on               TV               and               seen               the               signs               on               the               highways.

But,               did               you               know               your               cell               phone               could               be               a               tool               to               help               save               a               missing               child?

It               can               be               if               you               sign               up               to               receive               Amber               Alerts.

They're               free.

They're               fast.

They're               life-saving.

That's               three               good               reasons               to               sign               up               to               receive               Amber               Alerts               on               your               cell               phone.

Go               now               to               https://www.wirelessamberalerts.org/index.jsp
The               alerts               are               sponsored               by               the               National               Center               for               Missing               and               Exploited               Children               and               almost               every               cell               phone               provider               in               the               US.

Other               partners               include               the               CTIA               Wireless               Foundation,               US               Department               of               Justice,               Syniverse,               The               Ad               Council               and               Amber               Alert.
Normal               text               messaging               rates               do               NOT               apply               for               most               carriers.

Signing               up               is               simple.

To               keep               alerts               relevant,               alerts               will               only               be               sent               to               you               from               the               zip               codes               you               select.

You'll               be               asked               to               create               an               account               for               easy-updating.

The               entire               process               takes               about               5               minutes.
Go               the               the               Amber               Alerts               website               and               input               your               10               digit               cell               phone               number.

The               next               screen               will               show               your               wireless               carrier               and               a               selection               box.

You'll               be               asked               to               agree               to               the               terms               and               conditions               before               submitting.

Then,               your               cell               phone               number               will               appear               on               the               screen               and               you'll               be               asked               to               select               up               to               5               zip               codes               near               you.

Once               you               submit               your               password               your               account               is               set               up.

You               are               now               ready               to               begin               receiving               Amber               Alerts.
The               way               the               alerts               work               is:
               1)               Law               Enforcement               is               notifed               of               a               missing               or               endangered               child.
               2)               Law               Enforcement               issues               an               Amber               Alert               and               notifies               the               National               Center               for               Missing               and               Exploited               Children               with               the               alert               information.
               3)               NCMEC               formats               the               alert               and               sends               it               electronically               to               Syniverse.
               4)               Syniverse               sends               the               Amber               Alert               to               wireless               carriers.
               5)               Wireless               carriers               send               the               Amber               Alert               as               a               text               message               to               subscribers.
When               an               alert               goes               out               you               will               receive               two               text               messages.

The               first               is               to               let               you               know               about               the               alert               and               any               pertinent               details.

The               second               message               will               be               to               cancel               the               alert               meaning               (hopefully)               the               child               is               safely               found.

You               will               also               receive               a               short               text               message               to               welcome               you               into               the               program.

This               lets               you               know               that               your               account               is               set-up               properly               and               you               are               receiving               messages.

You               can               unsubscribe               at               any               time.
One               thing               that               won't               happen               is               you               won't               be               inundated               with               messages               you               don't               want.

The               only               time               you               will               get               a               message               is               if               an               actual               alert               has               been               issued               for               a               zip               code               you               chose.

Amber               Alert               pledges               not               to               share               or               loan               your               personal               information               with               anyone.

Ever.
This               all               makes               for               a               fast,               safe               and               reliable               way               to               bring               missing               kids               home.

Haven't               signed               up               yet?

What               are               you               waiting               for?
